Ian is a China-based Commodity Finance & Treasury professional with 27 years of proven expertise in International Finance and Banking in Europe, Middle East, and Greater China. Ian has deep experience of delivering treasury, compliance, liquidity, corporate finance and financial reporting solutions to companies of all sizes; guiding SMEs & start-ups through capital raises; and managing large, multi-city teams for high performance results. 

Ian spent 20+ years working at Standard Chartered Bank in London, Hong Kong, Dubai & Shanghai. His specialty across that period was in Commodity Finance, handling the requirements of Commodity Traders in each of Europe, the Middle East, and North-East Asia, including financing solutions, deal structuring & arranging, and then also credit risk management. He now helps Chinese commodity buyers structure deals and source products from around the world.

In recent years Ian has also been working with start-ups in China and Hong Kong, with a focus on capital raises, setting up operational and reporting processes, and establishing cross-border liquidity and funding platforms to enable rapid company growth.

Ian has lived in Shanghai for 15 years. He is the author of two books on China.
